COMPANION TEST
ATTACHMENT STYLE
How you move between closeness and independence in relationships. Four styles emerge from two axes — anxiety about abandonment, and avoidance of intimacy.
The science: Attachment theory started with John Bowlby's work on child-caregiver bonds (1960s) and was extended to adult relationships by Hazan and Shaver (1987). The modern 2D model \u2014 anxiety and avoidance as independent axes \u2014 was formalised by Brennan, Clark & Shaver (1998) and has been validated across thousands of studies since.
